People ask me all the time:
“How do you do it all?”
The truth? I don’t.
But I do a lot—with a laptop in one hand and my daughter on my hip.
Running a company while raising a toddler isn’t a balancing act—it’s a rhythm. Some days, that rhythm looks like power moves on Zoom while she’s coloring beside me. Other days, it looks like snack breaks between strategy sessions. And sometimes? It looks like shutting the laptop because she said, “No more working, Mommy.”
This is what modern motherhood looks like. And I wouldn’t change it for anything.
She’s Not a Distraction—She’s My Motivation
From the moment MaLaya was born, she’s been in the mix. She’s made appearances in meetings, learned the phrase “Mommy’s working,” and even hosts her own pretend calls with her toy phones. She knows that when the laptop opens, something important is happening. And sometimes, she’s the one closing it to remind me what’s just as important.
She’s not just watching me work—she’s watching me lead.
She sees a woman building something powerful, unapologetically.
That’s her blueprint. And that’s the legacy I’m building.
My Workflow Isn’t Traditional—It’s Intentional
I plan my days with flexibility and flow. I time-block for client calls and creative work, but I leave space for life to happen—because it always does.
Here’s what helps me stay aligned:
-
Prioritizing 3 goals a day instead of unrealistic to-do lists
-
Working in sprints, especially during nap time or quiet play
-
Batching content and admin on lighter childcare days
-
Saying no without apology when capacity is low
-
Keeping MaLaya involved when possible (packing orders, unboxing inventory, watching design edits)
Motherhood taught me to optimize every moment—not by rushing through it, but by being present in it.
There’s Power in Letting Them See the Process
I want my daughter to grow up knowing that women lead. We build. We rest. We pivot. We dream out loud.
She watches me talk to teams. She hears me problem-solve. She listens as I speak with love, clarity, and confidence. And when I pause to play or rest, she sees that part, too.
I don’t need to choose between being an amazing mom and a powerful CEO.
I’m both. And I’m raising her to know she can be, too—if she wants.
To the Mamas Building While Raising—You’re Not Alone
If you’re running businesses, chasing toddlers, and keeping the vision alive, I see you.
You’re doing it beautifully—even when it feels messy. Even when you're tired.
This isn’t about perfection—it’s about purpose.
So keep showing up. Keep leading. Keep loving.
Whether your laptop is open, closed, or balanced on a diaper bag—this is what empire-building looks like in real life.
